Winter sunsets in Cortona

Blue sky days usually mean a beautiful sunset. It's well worth taking time out to watch these winter displays...

From the mountains to the valley floor, Cortonaâ€™s winter sunsets are giant displays of colour that are spectacular to witness. They are more or less the only displays of colour during the coldest winter months - unless youâ€™re up with the birds and like to watch the sunrise as well!

What I love most is the reddish hue that bathes everything in the sunâ€™s path - landscapes, buildings, trees, mountains - all turned to a coppery gold, warming at least the inside, if not the outside.

Itâ€™s the moment of each day when everything just seems to settle in to a gentle calm; it can be a time for reflection, hope, prayer, meditationâ€¦or for just simple â€˜time outâ€™ of a busy day, to watch one of natureâ€™s wonders.
