Bright side to a stressful story

A multi-lingual medical association based in Siena and serving S.E Tuscany is good news for our area...

Coming to Cortona on holiday?  Don’t speak Italian? Worried about what to do if you need to fill an urgent prescription, or feel unwell, or contract Covid?  Then check out these guys: www.medyca.it.  Based in Siena, they are registered doctors offering house calls where necessary and a multi-lingual service for just such happenings, including – should there be an emergency - accompanying you to hospital and talking you through any necessary procedures.
Apparently, they come highly recommended by the ex-pat community in the area and were made known to us by a client – now in quarantine in his house in Cortona - who tested positive at Fiumicino airport after having previously done not one, but five home Covid tests!
Testing positive came as a big shock, but our client's biggest worry was not only how to get in supplies for 10 days, but also how to fill a repeat prescription. Had we all known previously about the Medyca group, we would have avoided a lot of stress – hence this post!
We naturally rallied round, firstly with a shop – to which we added lots of comfort foods! - and secondly to fill his repeat prescription (for which the Cortona pharmacy bent over backwards to help us out).
While we were still waiting to hear back from the local health authorities as to what procedure he needed to follow, he (actually his wife!) had already set up an appointment with the Medyca group for a Covid test for which – if he proves negative – he will be given the necessary certification to leave the country and be on his way home.
At this point, we are all rooting for him (only a few more days to go!), but should he – and we sincerely hope not - still result positive, he now knows he not only has a support team in place for getting in food supplies, but more importantly, that he has direct access to a multi-lingual medical association for anything he might need.
Definitely useful information to have before travelling to this part of Tuscany.
